Job Summary
Provide patient care on the General Surgery Medical-Surgical inpatient unit using the nursing process while maintaining professional accountability and coordinating care with other departments. Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by direct care givers and ensure patient rights and confidentiality are upheld in accordance with Mercy service standards. Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, with completion within 30 days of hire required. This full-time night shift role (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) involves pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly, along with prolonged standing and walking throughout the 36-hour week.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations
- Previous hospital experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
