Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Administer medications or treatments as ordered, perform testing to evaluate resident status, and recognize problems to respond effectively to emergent situations. Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents while documenting interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary needs. Counsel residents, family members, and advocates on prevention and treatment plans under direction, and establish effective working relationships within the interdisciplinary care team.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum
  • Have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility
  • Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board
  • Possess multi-state licensure privileges
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
  • Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility
  • If position requires IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum
  • Completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing
  • Must be able to work effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Counsel residents, family members and/or resident advocate, under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider or physician on prevention and treatment plans
  • Knowledge of resident education principles to develop a self-care program
  • An accepted offer will require a drug screen
  • An accepted offer will require a pre-employment background screening

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred
