Job Summary
Perioperative nurse oversees instrument/equipment setup and acts as circulator to coordinate and oversee the room during a case; ensures sterile field and safe operating room; assists with anesthesia and postoperative care; prepares patients for procedures; reviews charts for documentation; communicates treatment plans with physicians; provides patient/family instruction on medications and treatment; required to handle physical demands of long procedures and adapt to fast-paced surgical environments; may perform in surgical technician role; must have nursing degree and active RN/LPN license with CPR and ACLS credentials; strong attention to detail and patient safety are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
- Current state RN or LPN License
- CPR required
- ACLS required
- Minimum one year in pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative surgical patient care
