Job Summary
Direct primary nursing care to patients, supervise licensed and non-licensed nursing employees, and lead a dedicated care team as a Nursing Supervisor or House Supervisor. Make daily rounds to assess patients, report significant condition changes, and complete required documentation. Monitor nursing care records, review physician orders and pharmacy reports, and address complaints or incidents promptly. Perform physical assessments, wound care, and medication administration while assisting with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers. Maintain effective relationships with physicians, lab, pharmacy, and patient families. Requires current Virginia RN license, two years of medical-surgical experience, and CPR certification.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in good standing with the Virginia Department of Health Professions
- Current CPR Healthcare Provider certification
- Ability to supervise and direct licensed and non-licensed nursing employees
- Ability to promote and maintain an effective working relationship with physicians/physician extenders, lab, and pharmacy partners
- Ability to promote and maintain an effective working relationship with nursing employees, other departments, patients, families, visitors, and other health care centers
- Ability to address complaints and follow-up in a timely manner
- Ability to perform physical assessment for patients, recognize normal and abnormal physiological findings and compare against the patient's baseline
- Ability to perform wound care in accordance with physician/physician-extender orders
- Ability to assist in the development of the patient's plan of care
- Ability to perform nursing tasks or skills in accordance with standards of practice
- Ability to participate in the admission, discharge and transfer of patients
- Ability to provide direct care to patients including the administration of medication and the provision of wound care
- Ability to provide report for new patient admissions
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time
- Must be able to move 150 pounds with assistance
Desired Qualifications
- Two years of medical-surgical experience as a RN, preferred
