RN, First Assistant (Part Time, Day Shift)

Job Summary
Organize and facilitate patients in the Operating Room by coordinating care between surgeons, anesthesiologists, and room staff. Function as a first assistant during surgical incisions, excisions, and repairs while performing circulating and scrubbing duties. Handle and dissect tissues, clamp blood vessels, coagulate bleeding points, ligate vessels, suture tissue, and place drains in collaboration with the surgeon. Assist with patient transfers, positioning, prepping, and draping while maintaining aseptic technique and sterile field integrity. Document relevant data, mentor staff, and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and cost effectiveness. Requires RN licensure, CRNFA certification, and CNOR certification with two years of perioperative experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an RNFA program that meets AORN standards
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
- AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS
- At least one year of experience in the specialty for which they are being hired
- All required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable
- Access to and understanding of E-Verify Participation and Right to Work notices
Desired Qualifications
- Two years' perioperative nursing experience
- Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) certification in the state of practice
- Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Status (PEARS)/Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
- Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) membership
