Job Summary
RN First Assist position in Sunnyside, OR with Kaiser Permanente supporting surgical teams across the Northwest Surgical Services region. The role provides intra-operative nursing assistance to the surgeon and health care team, including assessment, planning, directing, providing and evaluating advanced nursing care, and participating in a regional on-call rotation to assist with elective, emergent and urgent surgical cases. Essential duties span preoperative assessment and planning, intra-operative technical assistance using instruments and devices, achieving hemostasis, tissue handling, suturing, and postoperative evaluation, with responsibilities to ensure continuity of care, professional communication with patients and families, and adherence to facility protocols. Requires RN license in Oregon, RNFA certification, AORN-aligned RNFA training, and CNOR maintenance; ACLS/BLS considerations may be preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years of peri-operative scrubbing and circulating experience in a KP OR or one (1) year experience as an RNFA in or outside of KP
- Certification of Completion from AORN recognized RNFA course.
- Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets the AORN Recommended Education Standards for RNFA and criteria for the CB.PMN acceptance program.
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon)
- Nurse Operating Room Certificate
- Basic Life Support
- Meets all qualification of an RNFA as outlined in AORN Position Statement.
- Must maintain CNOR and RN licensure with the required amount of Continuing Education.
