Job Summary
The RN First Assist works closely with the surgeon to optimize surgical results for patients, performing both direct and indirect patient care duties. Responsibilities include utilizing the Nursing Process to provide patient care, directing licensed and ancillary team members, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care plans. Candidates should have proficiency in computer systems and effective communication skills, as well as the ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule and manage exposure risks in a healthcare environment. Required qualifications include a nursing license and BLS certification, along with at least five years of operating room experience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- 5 years operating room experience
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR)
- Successful completion of an RNFA program
