Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients in a busy 26-bed Level 1 Trauma Center with a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. Utilize the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and technology to coordinate care with the health team, while reviewing and monitoring therapy and treatment plans. Document care in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines, operate monitors, and manage complex equipment with precision. Perform frequent verbal communications with patients and providers, ambulate patients, and transport supplies including gurneys. Work a full-time 36-hour night shift with potential on-call requirements. This role is part of a collaborative emergency family serving the Billings area and outlying communities.
Required Qualifications
- One year of licensed RN experience
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire
- Certification as appropriate for unit or service
- Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Ability to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Ability to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Ability to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Ability to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Licensed RN experience in an Emergency Department and/or high acuity setting
- Bachelor's degree of Nursing
- Previous experience as a Registered Nurse
