Job Summary
RN in the Emergency Department independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care across all ages, providing direct patient care, teaching, and leadership. Requires coordination of care, application of standards, and participation in quality improvement with credentialed ED certifications (BLS, ALS, PALS) and ED-specific competencies. The role emphasizes rapid decision-making, cross-training across ED areas, and collaboration with inter-professional teams to ensure safe, effective, and financially responsible care in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as RN in acute care required
- At least one year of Emergency or one year of pediatric ICU acute experience required
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- ENPC desirable
- TNCC desirable
- New graduate RN considered for ED fellowship program
- BSN preferred
- Fellowship agreement 2-year employment commitment after training
- Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows)
