Job Summary
Conduct emergency nursing care utilizing the Nursing Process, assessing patient needs, implementing teaching strategies, and managing nursing team resources within the Ochsner ED. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining accountability for quality outcomes and cultural sensitivity. Utilize data to evaluate and promote changes that achieve optimal patient outcomes and enhance customer satisfaction. Requires current RN license, BLS certification, and proficiency with Windows-style applications and data entry systems.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse Diploma
- Current RN License in the state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
