Job Summary
RN - ED PRN provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department, overseeing delivery of patient care, directing and delegating to nursing staff and home health aides, coordinating care with patient/family and other disciplines, ensuring patient rights and informed consent, directing patient and family teaching, maintaining current nursing standards and protocols, and participating in on-call duties. Requires ADN or higher nursing education, RN license in NM or a compact state, and current emergency/critical care certifications (BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS) with EPIC charting proficiency. The role emphasizes care coordination, patient education, safety, and adherence to Medicare/Medicaid rules.
Required Qualifications
- Academic Preparation: Degree from accredited academic nursing program
- Minimum ADN preparation
- Licensure: State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License required
- Required Certification from either AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross
- BLS: All RN roles
- ACLS: Emergency Department, Critical Care, Cardiovascular Lab, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Progressive Care, Surgical Services Pre-Op and Recovery Room
- NRP: Family Birthing Center, Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Mother/Baby Care
- PALS: Children Services, Cardiovascular Lab, Emergency Department, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Surgical Services Pre-Op and Recovery Room
