Job Summary

RN - ED PRN provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process to manage an assigned group of patients during a shift. The role includes coordinating patient care with families and multidisciplinary teams, supervising home health aides and nursing staff, directing care based on patient acuity, ensuring informed consent and patient rights, providing patient and family teaching, maintaining current nursing standards and hospital policies, and performing on-call duties with triage capabilities. The position emphasizes collaboration, clinical oversight, and ongoing professional development in an ED setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree from accredited nursing program (If a program is under conditional status, approval may be granted by system CNO)
  • Minimum ADN preparation
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License required
  • BLS: All RN roles
  • ACLS: Emergency Department, Critical Care, Cardiovascular Lab, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Progressive Care, Surgical Services Pre-Op and Recovery Room
  • NRP: Family Birthing Center, Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Mother/Baby Care
  • PALS: Children Services, Cardiovascular Lab, Emergency Department, GI Lab, Interventional Radiology, Surgical Services Pre-Op and Recovery Room
  • Required Certification from either AHA, ASHI, or Red Cross
