Job Summary
RN - ED PRN position delivering direct patient care in the Emergency Department with nursing-process-based care, prioritization, and collaboration across disciplines. Responsibilities include overseeing patient care delivery, delegating to nursing staff and home health aides, evaluating outcomes, coordinating with families and other disciplines, ensuring informed consent and patient rights are understood, directing patient and family teaching, staying current with nursing research and practice standards, and performing on-call triage and home-care instruction for diabetes, wounds, post-surgical, pediatric and other prioritized codes. Requires ADN or higher, NM or compact-state RN license, BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certification as applicable, with EPIC charting proficiency and ability to supervise aides in compliance with Medicare/Medicaid rules. Role emphasizes safety, education, and ongoing professional development; compensation is provided with night/weekend differentials and various lead roles eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- Degree from accredited nursing program (minimum ADN)
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
- BLS (RN roles)
- ACLS (as applicable to ED/CC/areas)
- NRP (per specialty areas)
- PALS (per specialty areas)
- Experience in emergency/acute care settings preferred
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting system
- On-call and triage capabilities
- Ability to supervise/home health aides per Medicare/Medicaid rules
