Job Summary
The RN ED Nights role provides patient-centered care in the Emergency Department, following the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include conducting thorough patient assessments, documenting findings, administering prescribed medications and IV therapies, assisting during procedures, coordinating individualized care plans, responding to emergencies with CPR and code team participation, educating patients and families, adhering to infection control standards, monitoring medical equipment, and contributing to audits and quality improvement efforts. The role encompasses various ED subspecialties (critical care, OR services, cardiac, endoscopy, obstetrics, oncology, orthopedics, PACU, NICU, telemetry, dialysis, cath lab) with duties aligned to each area as described, and requires providing safe, compassionate nursing care and maintaining professional competency in line with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role or student clinical rotations in an acute care setting required
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation preferred
