Job Summary
Direct nursing activities on the dialysis unit by planning shifts, assigning patients based on acuity and staff competency, and coordinating care across medicine, nursing, and ancillary teams. Deliver skilled patient care through the nursing process while acting as patient advocate and maintaining safety standards for 1:1 care assignments. Evaluate and modify assignments as needed, demonstrate clinical reasoning to reprioritize unit needs, and supervise orientation of new or temporary staff. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, CMS, OSHA, and Texas Administrative Code Rule 224.6, activating the Chain of Command when necessary. Requires 1-2 years of hemodialysis experience, current Texas RN licensure, and unit-specific certifications including BLS and CPI.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years Hemodialysis experience
- Current RN licensure in the state of Texas
- Certification per unit specific competency (i.e. BLS, CPI, etc.)
- NIHS Scale
- Stroke education
- Cardiac education
- Ortho education
