Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife/Takeda will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory results, and notify donors of unsuitable findings. Responsibilities include informed consent, medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis results, evaluating donor reactions, and following SOPs for medical emergencies, with coordination from Center Physician and Medical Affairs/EHS. The role supports vaccination programs for employees and may involve occupational health incident management and potential pandemic coordination. Requires RN/NP/PA licensure in the responsible state, CPR/AED certification, and at least two years of clinical or hospital experience; a high school diploma or equivalent plus nursing program graduate is also required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
