Job Summary
Provide perioperative care for complex cardiovascular and thoracic cases by completing comprehensive preoperative assessments, planning interventions, and evaluating effectiveness. Circulate independently on cases while prioritizing multiple patient and physician needs to delegate and coordinate surgical team efforts. Coordinate patient assignments considering staff competencies, infection control, and safety factors, and serve as a consultant to mentor less-experienced personnel. Maintain advanced clinical judgment and professional skills through continuous learning in cardiovascular and thoracic nursing techniques. Communicate with patients, staff, and physicians to anticipate needs and address care process complaints. Initiate actions to improve departmental processes and apply evidence-based practice to meet age-specific and clinical patient needs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
- One year advanced surgical experience
