Job Summary
Provide postpartum and newborn care as an RN, including maternal recovery assessment, newborn assessments, breastfeeding support, education of families, cross-float to L&D, NICU, and Pediatrics, and documentation in the EMR. Educate families on postpartum care, newborn care, and safe sleep; advocate for maternal and neonatal health; participate in meetings and quality improvement activities; maintain certifications and adapt to varying workflows and units.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unencumbered RN license in California
- ACLS certification (required)
- NRP certification (required)
- 1-2 years of postpartum or newborn care experience (preferred)
- NCC certification (preferred)
- Ability to float to Labor and Delivery, NICU, or Pediatrics as needed
- Strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform maternal and newborn assessments and intervene appropriately
- Flexibility to manage shifting priorities when floating to other units
- Manual dexterity for clinical tasks
