Job Summary
Provide pre-operation nursing care and patient teaching, initiate and maintain parenteral conscious sedation, and conduct continuous cardiac and respiratory assessments during dental procedures. Identify post-operative complications and discharge patients home while functioning as part of the dental team. Assist anesthetists during induction and emergence phases of anesthesia. Requires a current RN license, BLS, and ACLS certifications, plus one year of experience in parenteral conscious sedation protocols. Must hold valid N95 mask fit and WHMIS certificates. Monday through Friday day shifts only in Petawawa, ON.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse Diploma or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized university
- Registered Nurse license from the provincial or territorial professional college or association in the province of practice
- Current Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or equivalent such as Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level C
- Current Certificate of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) in accordance with the Heart and Stroke Foundation ACLS Provider program
- 1 year full time equivalent experience in the following: Parenteral conscious sedation protocols and procedures in an emergency room, intensive care unit, or perioperative setting
- 1 year full time equivalent experience in the following: assisting anaesthetists during the induction and emergence phases of anaesthesia
- Current N95 mask fit certificate CSA Standards Z94.4 (within the last two (2) years)
- Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) Certification (within the last two (2) years)
- Monday - Friday career opportunity with day shifts only (no nights, no weekends)
