Job Summary

Conduct unit-based education and onboarding for newly hired clinical staff and new graduate nurses, serving as a resource and coach to preceptors while managing competency validation and tracking. Deliver continuing education, just-in-time training, and in-service programs using evidence-based methods across in-person, e-learning, and simulation platforms. Provide direct patient care, maintain clinical competency, and model professional nursing practice consistent with Emory Healthcare standards. Collaborate with unit leadership and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate educational activities, participate in shared governance councils, and support quality improvement initiatives through targeted interventions. Work on-site primarily at the unit level with less than 10% travel between clinical sites.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience
  • A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing
  • BLS certification
  • Foundational knowledge of adult learning principles and their application in clinical education settings
  • Strong communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills with ability to engage diverse learners
  • Ability to function collaboratively within a team and under the mentorship of the NPD Practitioner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Commitment to personal professional development and progression within the NPD career pathway
  • Awareness of ANPD Scope and Standards of Practice with willingness to develop applied proficiency
  • Less than 10% of the time may be required between clinical sites
  • On-site; primarily unit-based with protected time designated for education-related responsibilities
  • Medium (Max 25 lbs): up to 25 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly)
  • Lifting 25 lbs max
  • Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • MSN degree in Nursing
  • Prior experience in precepting, staff mentorship, education, or unit-based leadership
  • ACLS and/or PALS if applicable
  • Specialty certification recommended
  • If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire
  • Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status
  • One week's advance notice is preferred
