Job Summary
Organize, plan, and direct patient care on the EmPATH Unit while acting as the primary liaison to Medical Staff and Care Management. Anticipate staffing needs, assign patient beds based on acuity and capacity, and determine appropriate unit personnel assignments by evaluating skills, competencies, and language needs. Deliver direct patient care, maintain a safe environment compliant with regulatory standards, and resolve conflicts involving patients, families, and physicians. Provide education, coaching, and remediation to staff, assist in the interview process, and participate in performance evaluations. Complete monitoring forms for the unit-specific Quality and Performance Improvement Plan and report findings to Department Leadership. Support the hospital's strategic plan and core values while promoting employee growth and patient advocacy.
Required Qualifications
- Associate in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or equivalent
- Bachelor of Science degree preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in Acute Inpatient or Outpatient Mental Health setting
- Knowledgeable of mental health regulatory guidelines and standards of practice
- Charge nurse experience
- Current California Nursing license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Must complete the annual Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate, per hospital policy, during initial training/orientation, but not to exceed 30 days from hire/transfer
Desired Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Science degree preferred
- Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish)
- Basic computer skills
- LPS Designated within 1 year of hire is preferred
- Experience with an Electronic Medical Record preferred
