Job Summary

Coordinate nursing activities during assigned shifts to support safe, efficient, and effective patient care in the Medical-Surgical Department. Serve as the designated chain-of-command resource, overseeing patient assignments, flow, and admissions while conducting rounds to monitor quality and address complex clinical situations. Mentor nursing staff, facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, and lead shift huddles to review census and operational priorities. Ensure adherence to Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulations by promoting quality improvement, infection prevention, and staff competency validation. Address patient and family concerns, manage staffing needs, and support performance evaluations to foster a collaborative work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an approved Registered Nurse training program
  • Current, unencumbered Georgia Registered Nurse license
  • BLS certification
  • PALS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Minimum of three years of nursing experience
  • Proficient computer skills including effective use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to navigate and document accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and present complex information to support informed clinical and operational decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate responsibilities with appropriate authority while retaining overall accountability for assigned tasks and outcomes
  • Ability to identify problems in a timely manner, develop and implement effective solutions, evaluate results, and revise plans as needed
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to work effectively with clinical staff, delegate according to individual skill levels, and model and mentor appropriate professional behavior
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
