Job Summary
RN Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist (CNPS) for Adult Critical Care. Role emphasizes advanced clinical nursing expertise, education and consultation across the system, ensuring evidence-based practices, leading quality initiatives, and mentoring nursing staff. Responsibilities include assessing education needs, developing and modifying patient care plans, evaluating nursing practice changes, leading technology/product integration for safety and quality, developing policies and protocols, and participating in Shared Decision-Making Councils. Requires Masters in Nursing (required) with current IL RN license, 5+ years of clinical experience, BLS/ACLS, and specialty certification with ongoing certification if not already held. Strong presentation, teaching, collaboration, and leadership skills; ability to engage diverse healthcare teams and promote continuous professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Nursing (required)
- Current RN license in the state of Illinois
- 5+ years clinical experience in a hospital/medical center/academic setting
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- Current nursing specialty certification; if none, certification required within one year of assuming role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility in work schedule
- Ability to engage with interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Experience in education, leadership, and program development
- Evidence-based practice and quality improvement knowledge
- Ability to mentor/coach nursing staff
