Job Summary
Manage nursing staff and activities for the home health department, including assigning patients based on condition and skill level, scheduling shifts, and measuring performance. Direct clinical and professional staff activities, delegate responsibilities, and provide direction on nursing practice and regulations. Monitor patient care areas for cleanliness, manage workflow volumes, and assist in training new staff while championing special projects. Coordinate inter-disciplinary communication with communities and outside agencies, and provide input for planning and budgeting. Ensure effectiveness of home health and hospice services through continuous improvement processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Currently holds an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
- Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care
- A working knowledge of administrative and management techniques
- Depending on location, a valid drivers license
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA)
- Two years of nursing clinical experience in caring for patients, residents, or clients
- Two years' experience in management duties
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN)
- Certificate for Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) Specialist-Clinical (COS-C)
