Job Summary
Manage oncology patients in an ambulatory care setting undergoing chemotherapy and various other treatments while collaborating with physician and APP teams. Support patients throughout the continuum of Hematology/Oncology care, recognizing symptoms, drug properties, interactions, and preventive health measures. Communicate effectively with diverse populations from pediatrics to geriatrics and maintain constructive relationships within the multi-disciplinary team. Travel to satellite clinic sites may be required with mileage reimbursement. Requires current unencumbered Oregon RN licensure, BSN or equivalent with oncology experience, and OCN certification within three years of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Current unencumbered Oregon RN Licensure
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Associate's Degree with one (1) additional year of nursing experience in an oncology clinical setting
- One (1) year experience in an oncology clinical setting
- Healthcare Provider BLS
- OCN or equivalent certification within three (3) years of hire
- Ability to recognize symptoms, drug properties and interactions, treatments, and preventive health-care measures within scope of practice
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high risk or diverse patient populations
- Ability to adjust actions in relation to others and adapt to offer best possible care to patients
- Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues
- Ability to perform group presentations and listen to and understand complex information and ideas
- Ability to work, function and communicate on a multi-disciplinary team
- Possess the knowledge and skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time
- Knowledge of medical records, procedures and terminology
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations
- Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers
- Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages
