Job Summary
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care. Perform ongoing assessment of airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status, pain, and vital signs while closely monitoring for post-anesthesia complications. Manage postoperative pain, nausea, and vomiting; administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products as ordered. Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and physicians to determine readiness for transfer or discharge. Maintain accurate documentation, participate in emergency response for acute deterioration, and educate patients and families on postoperative care. Ensure adherence to infection prevention, medication safety, and patient safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
- Graduate of an accredited BSN nursing program
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Acute-care nursing experience
Desired Qualifications
- PACU, ICU, ED, OR, or other critical-care experience
- PALS certification, when applicable
- Previous experience caring for patients recovering from anesthesia
