Job Summary
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care at St. Francis Hospital's Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. Perform ongoing assessments of airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status, pain, and vital signs while closely monitoring for post-anesthesia complications. Manage postoperative pain, nausea, and vomiting; administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products as ordered. Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to determine readiness for transfer or discharge. Maintain accurate documentation, participate in emergency responses for acute deterioration, and educate patients and families regarding postoperative care and safety. Requires current RN license, BSN degree, and BLS/ACLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
- Graduate of an accredited BSN nursing program
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Acute-care nursing experience
Desired Qualifications
- PACU, ICU, ED, OR, or other critical-care experience
- PALS certification, when applicable
- Previous experience caring for patients recovering from anesthesia
