Job Summary

Coordinate unit staffing and provide leadership while ensuring implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care in the assigned area. Assign, direct, educate, and monitor nursing and support staff during shifts, contributing to or performing performance evaluations. Assess daily patient care needs, develop and distribute patient care assignments, and evaluate the effectiveness of care to identify issues affecting desired outcomes. Respond to complaints about patient care and manage them through established channels, while providing input for hiring, training, directing, development, and evaluating of staff. This full-time nights (7p-7a) role is located at UAB St. Vincent's East MICU, a 12-bed unit serving adult and geriatric patients with complex medical needs under a dedicated intensivist team.

Required Qualifications

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted certification for BLS
  • ACLS and PALS certification (required in some units within 6-months of hire or transfer)
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing
  • Professional licensure/certification
  • 1 year of cumulative job specific experience
