Job Summary
Conduct direct patient care and supervise nursing staff on the Behavioral Health unit, managing daily operations, scheduling, and assignments. Provide direction, evaluation, and staff education while ensuring compliance with Mental Health Laws, LPS certifications, and regulatory guidelines. Coordinate admission, discharge, and transfer processes to enhance patient flow and document care quality consistently. Interview patients and families to improve orientation and access to services. Perform duties during direct patient care shifts as needed, with temporary relief by the Director when required.
Required Qualifications
- Current and valid state RN License
- Current BLS upon hire and maintain current
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws, Practice Standards, interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavior health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral units
- Receive/ maintain LPS Certification as deemed necessary
- Must obtain approved training on LPS statuses and patient rights and successfully pass LPS Certification exam
- Must have approved LPS certification prior to writing 5150 holds in designated Prime facilities
- Must have experience in an inpatient mental health facility per County requirements
- Patients Rights Education/ Competency required 30 days upon hire and maintain current
Desired Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience, preferred
- Continuum of care for behavioral health care, preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, preferred
