Job Summary
Conduct all identified nursing care behaviors within your span of control during your tour of duty under the direction of a registered nurse. Participate in the care of a defined patient population, assist with data collection, formulate plans for patient care, and evaluate outcomes of nursing actions. Maintain accountability to the Charge Nurse and/or designated individual while managing rotating shifts and overtime as required. This Medsurg role at the Medical University of South Carolina supports a 750-bed medical center including a nationally recognized Children's Hospital and the Ashley River Tower. The Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program aims to advance clinical and translational science to increase the speed at which new treatments become available to patients.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in nursing
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Ability to perform job duties while standing, sitting, walking, bending at the waist, twisting, squatting, reaching in all directions, reaching overhead, and performing repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to work indoors
- Ability to work outdoors in temperature extremes
- Ability to work from elevated areas
- Ability to work in confined or cramped spaces
- Ability to perform duties from kneeling positions
- Ability to pinch
- Ability to perform gross motor activity
- Ability to perform firm grasping
- Ability to perform fine manipulation

- Ability to distinguish colors

- Ability to maintain good peripheral vision
