Job Summary
Lead the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act framework, effectively delegating and directing licensed and ancillary team members. Assess learning needs, implement teaching strategies for diverse patient and family groups, and manage nursing team resources as a partner on the interdisciplinary team. Communicate clearly to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process while adapting behavior to specific patient populations, including respecting privacy and communication styles. Evaluate and promote change using data to achieve optimal outcomes and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards. Maintain involvement in activities aimed at achieving unit and department strategic goals while demonstrating professional accountability for quality patient outcomes and cultural sensitivity.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally
- Must be able to lift 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently
- Must be able to lift 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Must work in an area where patients enter
- Must work directly with patients
- Must work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Must be able to handle occupational risk for exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Must be able to handle occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
