Job Summary
Provide developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care to the assigned patient population while coordinating daily clinical activities. Deliver real-time clinical support through on-the-spot coaching, mentorship, and guidance to facilitate smooth transitions for new team members. Serve as a resource for clinical expertise in high-acuity neonatal or pediatric populations, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and evidence-based practice standards. Maintain appropriate documentation for clinical coaching sessions and participate in unit-based activities including quality assessment, shared governance, and staff development in-services.
Required Qualifications
- Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license
- Certification in Neonatal Nursing (or exam scheduled within 6 months, to be completed within one year of assuming the position)
- Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) (or exam scheduled within 6 months, to be completed within one year of assuming the position)
- CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field required or must be actively enrolled in a bachelor's program and graduate within one year of hire
- Five years of progressively more responsible neonatal/pediatric nursing experience required
- Minimum of 6 months department specific Charge Nurse and Preceptor experience required
- Demonstrates leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice
