Job Summary
RN on an Oncology/Inpatient unit (30 beds) delivering direct patient care with responsibilities including initial assessment, care planning, implementing and adjusting nursing care, ensuring patient and family safety, and coordinating with the healthcare team. Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy/biotherapy, starting IVs, inserting NG tubes, dressing changes, Foley catheters, port access and maintenance, extensive documentation to support care plans, and providing emotional support to patients and families. The unit emphasizes oncology-focused skills, palliative and end-of-life care, and continuous professional development through shared governance, mentor programs, and opportunities for oncology certification. Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) - Illinois (IDFPR)
- BLS certification (AHA) within 30 days
- Education: College Diploma: Nursing
- Experience: RN > 1 year
- Ability to administer chemotherapy/biotherapy
- Ability to perform head-to-toe assessments and IV starts
- Access Mediports and maintain port throughout shift
- Documentation and chart audits compliance
