Job Summary
Provide perioperative nursing care in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) including pre-operative assessment, IV initiation, intra- and post-procedure monitoring, and patient/family education. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient patient flow from admission through discharge. Perform focused nursing assessments, verify pre-op requirements and consents, document care in the EMR, adhere to infection prevention and safety standards, participate in quality-improvement initiatives, and deliver age-appropriate discharge instructions.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Board of Nursing licensure in Virginia or ability to obtain license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- ACLS preferred or required per facility policy
