Job Summary
Assess biophysical, psychosocial, and environmental needs of adult and geriatric telemetry patients with acute cardiac conditions, post-stroke care, and those requiring external defibrillator devices. Prioritize treatment, document assessments, and anticipate changes in patient status to ensure effective care plans. Initiate individualized nursing diagnoses, organize patient care, and communicate pertinent information to the interdisciplinary health care team. Provide patient and family education, integrate discharge planning, and offer support to less experienced staff. Actively participate in continuous quality improvement, review quality assurance data, and float to other nursing units as requested.
Required Qualifications
- Eligible for or currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in State of Maryland or compact state
- Associates degree in Nursing
- Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- NRP certification
- Oncology/Thoracic-Chemotherapy certification
- Base Station certification
- C-EFM certification
- Ability to handle a physically demanding environment
- Ability to handle lifting up to 100 pounds on an infrequent basis
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds while walking
- Ability to push or pull up to 115 pounds infrequently or greater than 115 pounds occasionally
- Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for Neonate patients
- Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for Infant patients
- Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for Child patients
- Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for Adolescent patients
- Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for Adult patients
- Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for Geriatric patients
- Ability to keep patient and employee information confidential
- Ability to meet the requirements annually of the FH Clinical Ladder
- Ability to use technology and equipment to perform job duties
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective use of proper body mechanics when handling patients, supplies and equipment
- Skills and abilities to perform all job description duties according to the age specific patient population served by their department
- Must complete all Hospital wide and Department specific competencies
- Must be available for weekend and holiday rotation
- Must be available for night shift (7p-7:30a)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred or willing to obtain within 5 years of employment
