Risk Practice Director

Job Summary

Director-level risk advisory practice leader responsible for defining strategy, growing the book of business, and delivering risk engagements for financial services clients across banking, fintech, asset management, and energy sectors. Core duties include leading multiple client engagements, developing new business opportunities, managing a practice portfolio, overseeing delivery quality and budgets, and mentoring a team of 5–10 consultants with cross-functional delivery teams. Requires deep financial services risk expertise, strong business development, P&L ownership, and the ability to interact with executive-level stakeholders to advise on risk management, regulatory compliance, governance, and control frameworks.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience within financial services risk management, risk consulting, regulatory advisory, or a related discipline
  • Experience within a consulting, advisory, professional services, or financial institution environment
  • Demonstrated success managing and growing a book of business, typically ranging from $2M to $15M+ in annual revenue
  • Experience owning or managing a P&L and meeting revenue, profitability, and utilization targets
  • Proven ability to develop and grow client relationships that generate repeat and expanded business opportunities
  • Experience leading consulting engagements and managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Experience leading direct and cross-functional teams
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and client stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience building, launching, or scaling a consulting practice
  • Experience serving banks, credit unions, fintech organizations, mortgage companies, wealth management firms, or other financial services organizations
  • Background in one or more specialized risk disciplines
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership teams, risk committees, audit committees, or boards of directors
  • Professional certifications such as FRM, CRCM, CFA, CPA, CIA, CERP, PMP, or similar credentials
