Job Summary
Lead Credit Officer (Vice President) within JPMorgan Chase’s Risk Management and Compliance team, responsible for the risk management of a national portfolio of non-bank financial entities spanning residential mortgage originations, commercial/consumer finance, fintech, and other financial services. Partner with product bankers and traders to analyze, structure, risk grade, and approve credit exposures; drive deal documentation negotiations; mentor junior resources; oversee ongoing risk management, due diligence, financial analysis, stress/scenario assessment, and escalation to senior management. Focus areas include understanding residential mortgage finance and specialty finance markets, collaboration with coverage bankers and product partners to develop risk-appropriate structures, validation of cash flow models (Excel-based), and ensuring timely risk mitigation and appropriate action on deteriorating clients. Strong emphasis on communication, organizational, and project management skills, with ability to lead ad-hoc projects and guide junior staff.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in a quantitative discipline
- Typically a minimum of 6+ years of Commercial / Corporate banking/lending, Asset Based Lending (ABL), or Structured Finance experience including credit, structuring, and marketing
- Completion of a major corporate bank credit/analyst training program or equivalent experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding organizational and project management skills to balance portfolio management and deal execution responsibilities
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to collaborate with teammates, bankers, product partners, senior management, and clients
- Strong work ethic with an ability to meet deadlines while multi-tasking
- Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills: Strong credit, documentation, and transaction experience a plus
- Excellent Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling skills
- Residential mortgage, specialty finance and/or securitization experience a plus
- Knowledge of credit, JPMC, and similar bank policies
- Ability to perform well under pressure in a demanding environment
