Job Summary
Lead Credit Officer Vice President within Business Banking Risk is responsible for the oversight, management and credit decisioning of new and existing extensions of credit and credit risk for the Business Banking line of business. Analyzes credit opportunities, structures transactions, negotiates and reviews terms, identifies and escalates risks, presents findings to senior leadership, conducts due diligence, and applies credit authority. Responsibilities include evaluating credit requests, performing quantitative and qualitative credit analyses, considering collection strategies, shaping terms of credit products, managing large data sets related to credit risk, escalating risk issues, collaborating with the model group for documentation and approvals, and delivering updates to risk forums. Requires deep credit knowledge, strong analytical judgment, and the ability to drive sound risk decisions in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Completion of advanced courses in finance, accounting, and credit either through a bank sponsored training program or college coursework
- Typically, 10 plus years’ experience as a relationship manager, Credit Officer or similar position requiring business banking/commercial knowledge and credit judgment
- Thorough knowledge of credit philosophy and policies, loan documentation, bankruptcy and related legal issues
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytic and problem-solving skills
- Works effectively in a team environment, while assuming individual responsibility
