Job Summary

Analyze and minimize corporate exposure to risk through insurance and contractual transfer of risk while developing foundational knowledge of insurance products and contractual language. Support review and analysis of internal insurance provisions, identify key risks, and respond to inquiries on risk and insurance topics under supervision. Assist with data collection for insurance submissions, reporting, and loss tracking, while contributing to presentations, documentation updates, and research across business units including Supply Management, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, and Legal. Gain practical understanding of Canada's oil and gas industry and Canadian Natural's thermal, conventional, and oil sands operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in: Your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an undergraduate degree with a focus in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Business, Law, or Political Science
  • Your 1st or 2nd year of an LLB or JD
  • Other relevant degrees will be considered
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Able to produce high-quality written work
  • Skilled at communicating, interacting, and relating with others
  • Strong logical reasoning and analytical thinking skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Able to work independently or in a team environment, as required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • All candidates applying to Canadian Natural must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions
  • Must be available for the shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)
  • Must be available for the term length: 4 months
  • Must be available for the term start: January 2027
  • Must be available for the Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office

Desired Qualifications

  • Gain foundational knowledge of insurance products, risk management, and contractual language used across the business
  • Learn about Canada's oil and gas industry and Canadian Natural's operations (thermal, conventional, and oil sands)
  • Support review and analysis of contractual insurance provisions, including identifying key risks and common issues
  • Respond to internal inquiries on risk and insurance topics under supervision and track common requests and solutions
  • Assist with data collection and analysis for insurance submissions, reporting, and loss tracking
  • Contribute to presentations, documentation updates, research, and other ad hoc projects
