Job Summary

Risk Management Director leads the hospital-wide Risk Management program, coordinating activities to identify, evaluate, monitor, and reduce liability risk exposures across campuses. Responsible for loss prevention and reduction planning, claims management and settlement, risk assessment and data analysis, and coordination with hospital counsel. Serves as a resource and educator to management, staff, patients, and guests on risk exposures and prevention strategies; provides risk management consultation to multiple departments; oversees education and orientation on risk management, regulatory interface with public health and other agencies, and the planning and execution of performance improvement activities. Requires collaboration across departments, capability to analyze statistics, develop prevention initiatives, and lead a team to ensure continuous quality improvement and compliance with risk management codes and standards; must possess strong presentation and interpersonal skills and familiarity with ASHRM guidelines. Preference for advanced degree in nursing or health care management and professional certifications in risk management. Licensure requirement noted for LA City fire life safety training.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Care Management, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in risk management or risk management principles
  • Knowledge of clinical practices and statistics
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills; problem solving; program development
  • Ability to develop, compile and analyze statistical reports
  • Ability to work with multiple departments within a large medical center; manage initiatives from inception to implementation
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement and results-driven outcomes
