Job Summary
Establish and maintain a Risk Management Plan to reduce losses by identifying operational risks and procuring sufficient risk financing. Investigate self-insurance programs, consult insurers on coverage terms and limits, and coordinate claims processing for the County and additional named insureds. Develop, implement, and monitor risk management strategies while partnering with procurement to ensure adequate insurance specifications in bid documents. Research new insurance products, liaise with insurance providers and adjusters, and communicate loss trends to identify operational improvements. Process insurance requests for additional named insureds and present coverage recommendations to Council. This permanent, full-time position entails a 35-hour work week. Hourly Pay Rate: $57.79 - $67.99.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a two (2) year post-secondary program in Risk Management, Public or Business Administration or an insurance-related field
- Completion of the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
- Completion of the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation
- Completion of the Fellow Charged Insurance Professional (FCIP)
- Five years (5) years direct work experience in an insurance environment, commercial underwriting, property & casualty and automobile claims adjusting, or general insurance brokerage function
- Familiarity with auto, property, boiler and machinery and commercial general liability lines of insurance coverage
- Insurance adjusting techniques and applicable laws
- Common law and statutes (Motor Vehicle Act, Municipal Government Act, Occupiers Liability Act, Criminal Code, etc.) affecting operations of a municipality
- Risk and insurance management principles and practices, as they apply to risk and insurance management programs and business continuity
- Valid Alberta class 5 driver's license
- Thorough working knowledge of computers and Microsoft products
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of the Fellow Charged Insurance Professional (FCIP), considered an asset
