Job Summary
Develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies aligned with company objectives and industry best practices. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, strategic, and compliance risks across the energy sector in Nigeria and international markets. Lead the development and review of risk policies, maintain the risk register, and conduct regular assessments to evaluate exposure. Advise senior leadership on risk impacts and prepare timely reports highlighting key risks and mitigation strategies. Ensure regulatory compliance with local and international standards while overseeing internal controls in critical areas like financial reporting and safety. Train employees on risk management practices and support crisis management planning for unforeseen events. Collaborate with external stakeholders including regulators and auditors to align practices with industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in risk management or a related field
- At least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role within the energy industry
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing risk management strategies, policies, and controls
- Proven track record of managing complex risk scenarios in a large organization, particularly in the energy or infrastructure sectors
- Experience in regulatory compliance and risk reporting, including working with auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders
- Experience in crisis management, including effectively managing high-risk situations and emergencies
- Full-time position based in Nigeria
- Occasional travel to project sites or international offices
- Ability to work long working hours depending on the risk environment and project deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree (MBA, MSc in Risk Management, or related fields)
- Professional certifications such as ICAN, Certified Risk Manager (CRM), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
