Risk & Insurance Specialist

Risk & Insurance Specialist responsible for coordinating procurement and administration of GHS insurance programs (including captive, commercially insured, and self-funded trusts). Key duties include developing and maintaining underwriting databases, overseeing insurance applications, directing broker activities, evaluating broker services, monitoring industry trends to mitigate risk, maintaining broker/carrier relationships, coordinating legal review of insurance language, auditing coverage and premiums, managing self-funded liabilities, and facilitating claims processing. Requires collaboration with General Counsel, finance, and internal departments; must handle on-site visits and ensure appropriate coverage language in contracts. Education and experience include a 4-year degree in a related field and 3-4 years of underwriting/insurance placement experience; healthcare risk experience preferred. Strong analytical, vendor management, contracts, GAAP knowledge, and risk advisory skills are expected, with opportunities for professional development and growth within Gundersen Health System.
