Job Summary
Associate, Operational Risk at Goldman Sachs in Salt Lake City is responsible for monitoring new initiatives and reviewing proposed fraud controls across existing and new business lines, challenging the business where appropriate, analyzing fraud capabilities and strategies, proposing alternative controls, and collaborating with Consumer Operations and Fraud Investigations to identify gaps and drive process improvements. Uses a data-driven approach to understand fraud risk and recommend effective identity theft and transaction fraud controls; assists in vendor/technology selection to enhance fraud strategy and mitigate emerging risks; facilitates operational risk event management data collection and detailed reviews of fraud issues/events to ensure remediation; researches latest fraud trends and industry/regulatory changes and recommends tools, services, and practices; develops day-to-day risk management metrics quantifying the division’s exposure to various fraud risks.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field OR Bachelor’s degree in same fields with three years of experience
- one year of experience (with a Master’s) OR three years of experience (with a Bachelor’s) in: advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel pivots and VLookups), PowerPoint and SharePoint; queries using SQL; knowledge of financial fraud types and fraud prevention/detection tools; understanding laws, regulations, and standards for consumer/retail banking; ability to present and build consensus across senior stakeholders; applying data science in Python, R, or Spark; developing risk management reports from large datasets; familiarity with consumer financial products (credit cards, lending products, checking/deposit accounts, investments)
