Job Summary
Conduct on-site risk control evaluations of existing and prospective policyholders to determine account attitude toward controlling losses and identify program weaknesses. Provide underwriting with an overall opinion of insureds desirability, descriptions of operations and ministry profiles, and suggested corrective measures. Accurately complete designated risk control visits, analyze accounts to verify construction class and quality, and ensure timely completion of reports to meet underwriter limitations. Respond to agent and insured inquiries regarding risk management issues while assisting with agent training. Maintain expenses within established parameters and project a professional image with clients, regulators, and internal staff.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Must be able to pass and maintain any state required licensing requirements for risk control inspectors
- Four or more years of general business, insurance or related experience
- Must be able to locate and extract essential construction elements from blueprints
- Must be able to understand and apply basic construction math
- Must have a general understanding of construction practices (excavation, concrete, various structural techniques, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical)
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be skilled in time management
- Must be able to plan and execute work strategies
- Must possess solid computer skills
- Must be able to input and access data from company and portable computer equipment
- Must be able to evaluate structures by walking, climbing, bending and stooping
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills
- Must present a positive and professional image
- Must be able to travel extensively by air and by driving, including overnight stays
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must have a clear driving record
- Must be familiar with church operations
- Must conduct themselves in a manner that will neither alienate nor offend persons within this target niche
- Must meet company competency standard for business writing skills
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Safety Industrial Operations or the physical sciences
- CPCU, ARM or other risk control-insurance related coursework
- Hands-on experience in construction or building/industrial maintenance
- Understanding of construction terminology
