Job Summary
Lead the Risk Assessment function within the Cybersecurity Risk Oversight team (2LoD) at U.S. Bank, delivering independent risk assessments, challenge of First Line technology and information security practices, and development of risk opinions with evidence-based analysis. Drive risk-based assessments, identify control gaps, align with laws and industry standards (NIST, FFIEC, PCI), and partner with business and risk stakeholders to implement effective risk management frameworks. Communicate risk posture and trends to executives, mentor risk and security professionals, and contribute to enterprise-wide technology and security risk programs while guiding policy improvements and maintaining an accountability-driven risk culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of applicable experience
- Advanced knowledge of information security domains (e.g., IAM, application security, cloud security, vulnerability management, incident response)
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards (NIST, FFIEC, PCI)
- Ability to operate independently with strong judgment and professional skepticism
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with executive-level messaging
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and challenge effectively without direct authority
- Strong leadership and management skills across people, processes, and projects
- Experience operating within Second Line of Defense, audit, or regulatory environments
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CISM) preferred
- Advanced knowledge of regulatory environment and trends in financial services
