Job Summary
Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, and sheaves based on load specifications; attach pulley and blocks to overhead structures using bolts and clamps. Attach loads with grappling devices like loops, wires, and chains to crane hooks. Give directions to crane operators for hoisting and moving loads via hand signals, loudspeakers, or telephone. Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment with hand tools and power wrenches. Splice rope and wire cables to repair slings and tackle. Coordinate equipment movement according to visual signals. Detect and respond to dangerous conditions. Maintain regular attendance while managing significant travel.
Required Qualifications
- Skilled in both written and verbal communication
- Complete all Safety and general job training as required by SIC
- Observe SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times
- Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment
- Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds
- Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces
- Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools
- Must be capable of standing for long periods of time
- Must be capable of bending consistently
- Must be capable of working in confined spaces with limited access
- Must be capable of working on ladders
- Must be capable of working in personnel lifts
- Must be capable of working in workboats
- Must be capable of working in awkward body positions
- Regular attendance is required
- Significant travel may be required
