Job Summary
Plan lifts using load weight, equipment capacity, and relative information to safely move heavy equipment. Inspect all rigging equipment including slings, chains, cables, hooks, and shackles. Attach loads and tie ropes for guiding during lifting and positioning. Signal equipment operators with hand signals for directional or placement instructions. Guide loads during lifts and climb structures to position loads. Assist in connecting or stabilizing loads prior to detaching them. Detach loads and remove rigging equipment. Place and remove outrigger pads from cranes and other heavy equipment. Act as a safety observer on equipment lifts. Work weekends and on-call for nights and overtime.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years experience NCCER ADVANCED OR NCCCO LEVEL 1 & 2 Journeyman Rigger
- Possess all Knowledge Skills and Abilities for positions
- Have or be able to successfully complete the NCCER Rigging assessment
- Meet all physical requirements
- Work at heights in excess of 300 ft.
- Have all required tools
- Have reliable transportation
- Have specific knowledge of rigging equipment and their capacities
- Have knowledge of required tools and their proper use
- Be a team player and have effective communication skill in dealing with coworkers and any other work related contacts
- Have basic knowledge of the construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction
- Use problem solving skills and critical thinking to resolve and identify issues, including safety risks
- Know proper hand signals to communicate with equipment operator
- Have knowledge regarding lift planning including but not limited to: the equipment to use, load capacities of equipment and lifting equipment
- Hold a NCCER certification for Rigging or be able to obtain one with in 30 days of hire date
- Have basic transportation knowledge in regards to moving equipment and loads from one location to another
- Have knowledge of arithmetic required to plan for a lift
- Be willing to follow all company directives and safety procedures
- Be able to work at heights
- Have good visual acuity and depth perception
- Be able to work outside in the changing weather conditions including in the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
- Be willing to work weekends and on call for nights & overtime
Desired Qualifications
- Current Zachry or Zachry ROF'ed employee
- Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- Experience working as an Industrial Ironworker
