Rigger (Heavy or Tall Tower)

Rigger, Heavy or Tall Tower: performs advanced tower erection, modification, dismantling, and heavy lift activities on large or complex tower structures, including tall, guyed towers, self-support towers, monopoles, and other elevated structures. Uses gin poles, cranes, capstan hoists, hydraulic hoist systems, winches, tag lines, load control systems, and other specialty rigging equipment. Reads and interprets drawings, construction documents, tower mapping information, rigging plans, lift plans, job specifications, mounting details, testing procedures, and customer requirements. Field Execution and Construction Support across top-side and ground-side activities; supports ground and civil work; tracks work activities and communicates progress. Safety and Compliance: promotes safety programs, participates in safety meetings, validates equipment condition, and ensures safe operations. Leadership, Mentoring, and Crew Support: serves as a senior technical resource, provides guidance on safe rigging practices, coordinates top-side and ground-side activities, and can serve as a technical lead. Driving, Travel, and Deployment Readiness: operates company vehicles, maintains driver qualifications, and completes reporting. Education: High school diploma or GED required. Experience: meets Tower Technician IV expectations and five years of direct experience in heavy/tall tower work; rigging experience with gin poles and crane setup; experience with capstan hoists and hydraulic hoists; experience with tower construction, removals, and grounding; experience with heavy equipment. License, Cert or Registration: current driver’s license; ability to obtain certifications upon hire. Special knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: advanced understanding of tower construction, rigging, hoisting, gin pole setup, crane-assisted work, load dynamics, and ability to read drawings and plans.
