RHS JROTC Senior Army Instructor

Job Summary
Lead the overall JROTC unit program by implementing national, state, and district standards while managing assigned instructors. Coordinate the military service's national education curriculum, including preparation for co-curricular activities like military balls, drill meets, and honor guards. Supervise property management, budget controls, and the automated cadet record system (JUMS). Instruct 180 hours of military subject materials, develop lesson plans, and assess student learning styles. Manage student behavior, counsel cadets, and supervise leadership positions within the unit. Coordinate with special education teachers to modify curricula and collaborate with faculty to promote cadet involvement in school activities. Maintain open communication with parents, principals, and community members while compiling and filing all required reports and records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Master's Degree
- Teacher Certification with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
- Texas certified and highly qualified
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Knowledge of JROTC curriculum as outlined by Cadet Command
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong automation technology skills
- Willingness to execute written employment contract with Rio Grande City CISD
- Security checks and clearances per Cadet Command & School District Requirements
- Meet current height and weight standards as outlined in appropriate Army Service regulations
- Retired Army active duty or gray area Reserve/National Guard commissioned officer (CPT O-3 to Colonel O-6)
- Warrant Officer W2-4 (with a bachelor's degree)
- Eligible to obtain Federal JROTC instructor certification
- Required to wear the appropriate Service uniform and meet personal grooming standards as outlined in Service Regulations
- Demonstrated troop level experience
- Demonstrated executive staff experience
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
- Ability to instruct, interpret policy and maintain emotional control under stress
- Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel
- Occasional prolonged and irregular hours
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree preferred
- Military Education Level (MEL-4) (Command and General Staff College) desired
